How I Fixed My Pricing in One Night (and Finally Felt Confident Charging More)

4 min readApr 23, 2025

I still remember the moment vividly.

I was on a Zoom call with a potential client. We’d just wrapped up a great conversation about their brand. They were engaged, excited, and nodding along with every idea I offered. I felt good-confident even.

Then they asked the question:

“So… what do you charge?” And that’s when it happened-my brain froze.

What came out of my mouth next was a mumbled, awkward number I blurted out to fill the silence. I undersold myself. Again. And I knew it the second I said it.

The worst part? They said yes without hesitation.

Which meant I had priced myself far too low.

When the call ended, I sat there, deflated at the screen.

Not because the project wasn’t exciting-it was. But because I knew I had just signed up to deliver high-level work for a price that didn’t reflect the value I brought.

And that wasn’t the first time it had happened.

The “Pricing Spiral” No One Warns You About

Over the next few weeks, I spiraled.
